Kalyn Falk – spiritual director, educator and author

Kalyn Falk, MA, is a spiritual director, educator and author. As a spiritual director, she graduated from the Prairie Jubilee Program in 2003 and was  involved in the Shekinah Formation Program in spiritual direction for the past 10 years, first as a co-Director alongside Sister Mary Coswin, and then serving as Director from 2020 to the fall of 2024. Kalyn has been honoured to accompany people in spiritual direction and retreats for more than 20 years. 

As an educator, Kalyn has led workshops through the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute (CTRI), Mediation Services , and Spirit River Community: A Retreat Centre Without Walls. From 2020-2025, she was an Instructor for the Conflict Resolution Studies program at the University of Winnipeg in partnership with Canadian Mennonite University. She is often asked to facilitate discussions and learning events in the private and public sector. 

As an author, Kalyn has written 2 books. “Mother of the Year and Other Elusive Awards” is a memoir of parenting a profoundly autistic child and has been used as required reading for a course as part of a Masters in Educational Administration. Her book “I Am Here: Six Postures of Prayer” has been used as course material at Luther College. It explores body prayer through practices, reflections, spiritual memoir and questions for contemplation.

Kalyn’s education reflects her wide-reaching interests; a BA with a triple major in conflict resolution studies, developmental studies and psychology and an MA in theology with a focus on existential conflict and embodied spirituality. She continues her learning with many workshops on trauma, restorative justice, Enneagram and others focused on counselling, conflict resolution, healing and diversity education.

Kalyn lives in Winnipeg with her partner, David.
